Wei l got the call on Sunday around 830 that I needed to be at the rig by 7 am Monday. So now I'm over here near Mansfield, Louisiana luckily it looks like I'll only be here for about a week to 10 days and then I'll either get to go back home or go to another rig. Hopefully home. We've just been waiting around while they've been doing work on the rig. So its been nice just relaxing but I wish I could have been at home for another day before coming out. Now I just want us to get started so I can get closer to being home again.
It was nice being at home and getting to see Lynsy and family. The time went way too quick and I have a feeling that's how it will always be. Time to get back to my busy schedule of watching TV and waiting for them to need us to start work. At least I'm getting paid to be here and watch TV.
Miss everyone and hopefully we can all get together the next time I'm home.

Our well plan and an update on it
That's a picture of the original well plan for the sidetrack we are drilling. It might be hard to see but they drill about 12000 feet straight down then curve and go close to horizontal and on this well drill about 8000 feet. Its changed a little since then. They've extended the lateral by about 1000 feet. That's what I found out this morning as the directional driller was talking. So that will add about 2.5 days if we're able to drill it straight through. If there's a problem and we have to trip early then we're looking at an extra 3 days on top of that. If we can drill straight through we have about 7 days of drilling and then 2 days until we're out of the hole and headed home. So it looks like 9 more days minimum before I can finally come home. But I'm thinking I should get close to a week off which will be nice. The extra days out here are good and bad. I can't wait to be home for some days to be able to see everyone.
Same old same old
Well it's been a while since I last posted so I figured an update was due. Not much has changed here. We had to change our tools out on 8/31 and then as we were trying to get back to drilling there were issues with our mud returns which is not a good thing. It can cause serious problems if you don't try and fix it. So they spent the next to days trying to solve that problem and we finally got back to drilling yesterday around 2 pm. The worst pat was that I had to still be up in case they were going to try and go back to drilling. Which made for 2 very long shifts of doing absolutely nothing. Now that we're drilling again we should be done in about a week if there's no other issues which I'm hoping for. I've been on a rig for the past 40 days and can't wait to be home for a bit and see people and just relax without having to worry about being woken up to go carry 250 pounds with another guy. All in all its been interesting and fun and I've learned a whole lot about drilling and the oilfield. I feel confident that I could go on and lead a job now which is good. I'm hoping to hot the promotion right at the 3 month mark. There's not a lot of jobs where after 3 months your annual income can jump $20k and I feel blessed to be in this situation for now. I know I couldn't do this for long because family is too important to me but for now I think its the best and can set up my life a lot better. It was hard reading the posts about the August bdays and the family pictures. I really wish I could have been there and I hope that I get lucky and have days off around Christmas. Well its about time for me to do some work and then get back to reading. I'm gonna try and get some more pictures taken and might go to the state park that's about 10 minutes from here in the next few days.

recent happenings and some pictures
H
Oh well with the new update on the phone it allows me to upload pictures now so I'm going to post some. These are from when I was in coushatta and went to natchitoches. Well it put them in above this post and its a pain to try and cut and paste. So one of the pictures is of a tree that I really liked in natchitoches and another is of a building along I thinking its front street there which is right along the river in the middle of town. The picture of the water is from the restaurant the me and Lynsy ate at when she came up there. The picture with my feet on the desk is how I spend most of my 12 shift kicked back and reading a book. About every 2 hrs I have about 15 minutes of work to do. I'm going to try and get some video uploaded later. But I'm not supposed to take pictures at the rig. But I can be sneaky about it.
That's about all I have for now. I'll get some more pictures and maybe a video uploaded later if things are interesting. I miss everyone and wish I could be there for the birthdays. I'm curious who I'll get for Xmas too. Love y'all.

Jasper
We just landed the curve about an hour ago so we can start rotating again which is good because that's much faster than sliding. Our new projected finish is 2.5 to 3 weeks which is much earlier than what they were saying when I first got out here. So that is a big plus. It'll be good to be home for a few days. I'm not sure when August birthdays will be but hopefully I can make it and even better would be without having to leave the rig if it falls on my days off. I still can't figure out how to be able to upload images from my phone so there's no new pictures for the blog. I'll show everyone whenever I see you and clue you in to what exactly it is that I do. I've learned a whole bunch both related to my job and drilling in general. It feels good to be working and learning again. Jasper is a pretty boring town and I've gone to Walmart a few times just to get away from the rig. Other than that I haven't found much to do here. But I really like the guys at this rig and wouldn't mind following it around but that would mean being gone for 3 months at a time and then getting a month off bit we're so busy I don't think the coordinators would let me have that month off. So I'm not even gonna try it. I hope everyone is doing well.

New rig near Jasper
Apparently it's going to let me blog now. Before I couldn't get to the blog post section but I can now. So I was in Coushatta, Louisiana for about 10 days and then got the call yesterday that I'll be moving to a rig near Jasper, Texas and so that's where I am now. I will start holding the night tower which will be from 6 pm to 6 am or somewhere around those hours. If I stay at this rig til the well is complete I'll end up being here til probably the middle or end of September. That's bad because I would have been gone for almost 2 months. But it's also good because it will help me reach promotion sooner. Just got word that its time for work. I'll update later on my tower. I miss everyone and that will be the hardest part.
